Sadness, despair, anger, loneliness, helplessness…
Love, joy, gratitude, peace, empowerment…
One thing I am learning is that to fully embrace my open, raw, and vulnerable feelings – like deep sadness that seems to pull me down into the caverns of the earth below my feet… or that stinging wind of loneliness that blows through my bones… or that feeling that there isn’t anything I can do to stop these feelings…
All are okay.
There isn’t anything to “do” when it comes to feeling and processing our stuff. In fact, the energy of love that we are, at our core, totally and completely wraps all our painful, hidden, forgotten, untouchable emotions in a blanket of unconditional self-compassion. It is okay to feel all this stuff. It doesn’t mean we aren’t enlightened. It doesn’t mean we are failing at being spiritual. It means we are human, and it means we are also divine.
To embody the energy of love means that everything gets felt, everything gets accepted, and everything gets to come to the harvest table of our hearts and feast on joy.
It is as simple as taking a deep breath and dropping the mind into the chest, and allowing ourselves to simply be as we are. There is nothing, really, to do. Just be.
The simple magnificence of being far transcends all the worldly accomplishments we could ever achieve. This, of course, does not mean that we discount or “dis” our ability to achieve or manifest our desires. I am all for that. What it means is that we get to anchor ourselves in our core beingness, in our infinite spiritual nature, and then witness with a sly smile on our faces how everything simply manifests on its own.
We are the witness. Love is the doer. Yet, we are also the love that is doing the doing – but from a different, higher place, beyond the constraints of our egos and personality.
Unconditional self-compassion is like stepping above the clouds and accepting ourselves exactly as we are.
